Prince Harry shares throwback pictures to mark Queen's 93rd birthday

Prince Harry has posted a series of throwback pictures to mark his grandmother the Queen's 93rd birthday.

Posting to the Instagram account he shares with Meghan, Harry wished his "granny" a happy birthday, and a "wonderful day".

The seven photos include a black and white solo picture, some throwback family shots with the Duke of Cambridge, and one photo showing the Queen chuckling alongside the Duchess of Sussex.

The Queen was born on 21 April, but she also has a second birthday, her official one, which she marks on the second Saturday in June.

This year, her birthday coincides with Easter Sunday, meaning she will observe her religious traditions as normal.

She was pictured arriving at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on Sunday morning for the annual Easter service.

Family greeted her at the entrance, including the Princess Royal, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Zara and Mike Tindall, Princess Beatrice, the Earl of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the Duke of Sussex.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who retired from royal duties in 2017, and the Duchess of Sussex, who is heavily pregnant, were not in attendance.

The Queen's combined Easter-birthday outfit consisted of a matching light blue coat and hat, with a rosy pink ribbon.

On Monday, the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will ride their horses and gun carriages past Buckingham Palace en route to Hyde Park to stage a 41-gun royal salute at noon.

The gun salutes are usually fired as a mark of respect to the Queen on her special day - but never on a Sunday, which is why they have been delayed.

The Queen traditionally spends a month-long residence at Windsor Castle, known as Easter Court, each year.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926, the first child of the then Duke and Duchess of York, at 17 Bruton Street, the Mayfair home of her mother's parents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.

She was never expected to be Queen when she was born, but the abdication of her uncle Edward VIII in 1936 put her father George VI on the throne, and changed her destiny.

Elizabeth II, who has been monarch for more than 67 years, is Head of State, the Armed Forces and the Commonwealth, and has been married to the Duke of Edinburgh for more than 71 years.

She became Britain's longest-reigning monarch, passing her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria's record, in September 2015.

With the death of 88-year-old King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand in 2016, the Queen now holds the record for the world's longest reigning living monarch.
