Royal Navy Vessel Rides Rough Seas During Patrol of UK Waters

The Royal Navy’s HMS Northumberland shared footage of rough seas during a voyage in United Kingdom waters on Sunday, December 20, calling it “Sunday Funday at Sea.”

The Royal Navy said the HMS Northumberland is currently carrying out their mission to protect UK waters and the nation’s nuclear deterrent, meaning the sailors are set to spend Christmas away from home.

The Type 23 frigate was last at her home port of Devonport in late September and since then has part of the UK Carrier Strike group monitoring Russian activity close to UK waters, the Navy said.

“Spare us a thought, it’s a bumpy day out here onboard the good ship Northumberland,” the vessel’s team wrote on Twitter. Credit: HMS Northumberland via Storyful
