Prince Harry has spoken about the sex of his expected child for the first time – and hopes he will be having a baby girl.

The Duke of Sussex revealed his hopes when speaking with a well-wisher during his and Meghan Markle’s royal tour in Australia.

During a cycling race, a member of a crowd shouted to Harry: “Congratulations, I hope it’s a girl.”

To which the 34-year-old replied: “So do I!, the Mirror reported.

It is the first time Harry has spoken about the sex of his expected child, after he said he “couldn't’ imagine a better place” to announce he and Meghan were expecting in Australia.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex braved choppy seas hours after Meghan Markle was urged to rest on the couple’s royal tour, on Sunday, following the cycling race.

Prince Harry and Meghan took to the water to watch the sailing final of the Invictus Games as part of their latest outing on the tour.

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex was back supporting competitors in the Invictus Games after being urged by her husband to pace herself during their gruelling 16-day Pacific tour.

Meghan had pulled out of an arranged meeting with those taking part in the earlier day and rested.

The couple are currently part-way through a 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, with 76 events on their schedule.
