Rush for Last Orders as McDonald's Announces UK and Ireland Shutdown

After McDonald’s announced the closure of its United Kingdom and Ireland locations effective 7 pm on Monday, March 23, local news outlets across the UK were reporting long lines as people rushed to get one last meal.

“We will be working closely with community groups across the UK and Ireland to distribute food from our restaurants to those most in need,” the company said in a tweet.

McDonald’s also offered free food and drinks for healthcare workers and emergency personnel ahead of the shutdown on Monday.

McDonald’s joined Nando’s, Costa Coffee,, Subway and others in announcing a shutdown across the UK and Ireland.
