Russell Brand has gone ahead and confirmed the news that he’s going to be a dad for the first time.

The 41-year-old comedian is set to become a dad for the first time when his girlfriend Laura Gallacher, the sister of TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher, gives birth.

Russell confirmed the news on Instagram, uploading a snap that shows him posing with a copy of ‘The Expectant Dad’s Handbook’.

Now, if that’s not a confirmation – we don’t know what is.

He captioned the photo: “Right then. My Mum bought me this. Time to get ready!” - just in case any of us needed any further clarification on the issue.

Of course, it’s not the first steps Russell’s been taking to prepare for the new arrival. Earlier this month it was rumoured that the activist has embarked on a course that teaches baby yoga.

Russ, already a very keen yoga practitioner, is said to have wanted to get as close to his baby as soon as possible, and believes that baby yoga is one of the best ways to do it.

A source told The Daily Star newspaper: “Russell wants to get close with the baby and has started these daily yoga routines. He takes it really seriously and honestly believes it will help to form a relationship with the child.”

Baby yoga claims to build trust between the parent and child by incorporating the little one in yoga postures and helping them to build awareness of their body through a series of mini twists and stretches.

Practitioners recommend two to three 10 minute sessions each week but it is more commonly taken up by postnatal mothers, because the exercises help them to rebuild their pelvic floor muscles after giving birth.
