Russian Foreign Minister Lays Flowers in Tribute to Dead UN Ambassador

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov was joined by his Swedish counterpart Margot Wallström for a ceremony in tribute to Vitaly Churkin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Moscow on February 21.

The sudden death of Churkin, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, occurred in Manhattan on February 20, the day before his 65th birthday.
