What do we know about the Sochi Autodrom?

  • Circuit length: 5.848km

  • First grand prix: 2014

  • Laps: 53

  • Race distance: 309.745km

  • Race lap record: 1:35.761 (Lewis Hamilton, 2019)

  • 2019 winner: Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes

  • Number of corners: 18

  • Overtaking chances:  Well, reasonable I guess, with the couple of heavy braking zones but they have become increasingly lighter with this current breed of F1 cars, so is likely to be as problematic as ever.

What are the latest odds?

  • Lewis Hamilton 1/2

  • Max Verstappen 9/2

  • Valtteri Bottas 11/4

  • Sergio Perez 66/1

  • Daniel Ricciardo 66/1

  • Carlos Sainz 80/1

What was our pre-weekend prediction?

Bottas has traditionally gone well here but is reaching a point of desperation and exasperation in his current season and that could affect him. Perhaps the heartbreaking combo of a great pole lap, beating Hamilton, and then getting mugged at the start. I don't think Red Bull will be in contention to split the Mercedes here, so let's hope for competition for that third podium spot. It should still be Verstappen's to lose.

1st Hamilton 2nd Bottas 3rd Verstappen
