"Do you want to stop progress? You can break many destinies, but you will be defeated both here and in the stupid war you are waging," Navalny's associate Kira Yarmysh quoted him as saying.

"Of course, I'm ready to serve time in jail to tell everyone that people are dying," Navalny said.

Eventually, the court upheld the sentence against Navalny, namely nine years in a penal colony in a case of fraud and contempt of court.
