Russian woman caught trying to smuggle endangered lemur to 'save the species'
A woman baffled customs officials in Orsk, in Russia's Orenburg Oblast region, after she was caught trying to smuggle a single ring-tailed lemur into Kazakhstan. In a report from Russia's Federal Customs Service (FCS) on September 10, the woman claimed she was transporting the young female 'Georgette' hidden in her car to 'save the species', but did not have the proper export permits.
