Ruth Jones' message to 'true' Gavin & Stacey fans as they say goodbye to major part of the show

The cast of Gavin and Stacey said a warm farewell to fans as they wrapped up filming on Trinity Street for the last time. Trinity Street, Barry, is where both Gwen and Uncle Bryn live and has been the centre of a lot of filming for the upcoming Christmas special, which co-creators James Corden and Ruth Jones have said will be the final ever episode of the beloved show.

Fans from all over have been gathering on "the Island" and the steep line of terraces above the town to try and catch a glimpse of the cast as Gavin & Stacey filming takes over Barry for one final time. Joanna Page (Stacey) and Ruth Jones (Nessa) were spotted chatting with fans when they were filming on the promenade. Earlier this month, Mathew Horne, who plays Gavin, even got his birthday cake from fans who had been waiting on Trinity Street.

This week has been no different, as dozens of fans waited at the top of Trinity Street as the show filmed there for the last time. Earlier, fans were treated to Corden and Jones walking up to greet them, arm-in-arm. Those dedicated to stay until late were also treated to a sweet message from the cast as super-fans shouted "we love you."

Later in the evening, Corden, James, Page, Rob Brydon (Uncle Bryn), Melanie Walters (Gwen) and Robert Wilfort (Jason) were all on set and waved to the waiting fans as they walked to the top of the street. Trinity Street residents could also be seen watching from their doorsteps.

Ruth Jones' then gave a sweet message to fans as they said goodbye to Trinity Street. She said: "Thank you so much for coming here today and being so patient because you haven't seen anything because we've been indoors! But it shows that you are true committed fans of the show and we hope that you won't be disappointed on Christmas Day when all will be revealed. This is our farewell to Barry and to Trinity Street, so you won't be seeing us here anymore but we've had a wonderful 17 years."

James Corden added: "Thank you so much for everything everybody, we'll see you soon." For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter
