Ruth Langsford has proved that there's nothing more fulfilling than completing a challenge you've set yourself.

The TV presenter, 61, has revealed that she has hit an important fitness milestone after starting to run using the Couch To 5k app six weeks ago.

In a video shared to Instagram, Eamonn Holmes' ecstatic wife explained that she had just completed 25 minutes of continuous running.

Captioning the clip, she wrote: "RESULT!!!! Can’t believe I’ve just done that! When I started @couch_2_5k six weeks ago I couldn’t imagine being able to run for 25 mins non stop but...

"I JUST DID!! In need of a cold shower now (& probably a stiff gin!) SO pleased with myself!"

The Loose Women panellist's post – which has been watched more than 150,000 times – saw more than a thousand leave encouraging messages.

Gok Wan, who recently completed the same challenge, commented: "So proud."

Fellow This Morning star Dr Zoe Williams shared: "Amazing Ruth – so inspiring."

Fellow Loose Women regular Saira Khan added: "You are amazing! Well done Ruthie!"

The Couch To 5k app, created by the NHS, is free – it helps absolute beginners start to run, by slowly building them up from walking to jogging and then running.

In late April, Langsford told her social media followers that she while she admitted "hate" for running, she had been inspired to download it by Gok Wan and This Morning expert Alice Beer.

She then proceeded to share with her fans her progress as the weeks passed – leading to Sunday's triumph.
