Ruth Langsford has reached out to Love Island star Dr Alex George in the wake of his brother's tragic death.

The This Morning presenter lost her sister Julia Johnson to suicide last year.

And, following Alex's announcement that his younger brother Llŷr had died, relating it to mental health, on Friday (July 24), Ruth reached out to him via the comments section on his Instagram post.

"Alex I am so, so sorry for your tragic loss," Ruth wrote.

"I lost my sister to mental health last year so I understand the pain and shock you and your family will be feeling.

"I send you the hugest of hugs and if you ever need to talk you know how to reach me. My condolences to you and your family and may your darling brother rest in peace."

Ruth is among a number of famous faces to send their condolences to Alex, including his Love Island co-stars Wes Nelson and Alexandra Cane.

Her post follows her previously opening up about the devastating impact of her sister's loss during an episode of This Morning.

"This happened in my family," Ruth said. "I remember my shock at that. It's the questions it leaves the families.

She added: "You believe you don't have a choice, that's the sad thing and that's the sad thing for people left behind."
