Ruth Langsford has shared a moving family photograph from over 60 years ago to mark Remembrance Day (Thursday 11 November). The TV star posted a black and white photo to Instagram showing her late father as a young army sergeant holding a tiny baby Ruth.

Ruth's father was in the army for 27 years as part of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), before retiring from service. He sadly passed away in 2012 from Alzheimers.

Ruth captioned the post with a line from the classic Remembrance poem For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon, writing; "At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them#remembranceday2021🌹 #lestweforget🌺 "

The photo shows her father cradling little Ruth in full uniform, smiling down at his baby daughter who is dressed in what looks like all white with a little hood and looking completely adorable.

She went on to movingly add in the caption; "Photo: Sgt Dennis Langsford R.E.M.E. holding his baby daughter Ruth 1960."

Ruth is very close with her family and will be spending Christmas apart from Eamon this year choosing not to travel to Ireland with him as she's spending it with her mum. A popular figure on Ruth's Instagram account, she now lives in a care home but often enjoys days out and trips to Ruth and Eamon's for a roast dinner.

We wonder if it was her that took this touching snap?
