Ruth Langsford swipes at Eamonn Holmes over divorce quip on Loose Women
Ruth Langsford took an opportunity to take a swipe at her divorce from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes as she appeared on the latest episode of Loose Women.
The presenter was fronting the ITV lunchtime show on Tuesday (December 9) as she was joined on the panel by Coleen Nolan, Dame Kelly Holmes, Mariella Frostrup. As ever, they discussed a number of topics, including a recent trailer for what's to come in Coronation Street.
They based one of their latest talkings points on the exit of Gail Platt from the cobbles after a new prom shared by the ITV soap revealed her plans to leave the cobbles will be far from plain sailing because of her family, including her mother Audrey Roberts.
Gail is unaware of just how much her beloved mother, Audrey, is struggling with her daughter’s plans to leave her behind and jet off to a new life with Jesse. As the wedding day draws closer, Audrey resorts to desperate means to persuade Gail to change her mind, saying she'll never speak to her again if she marries him.
It left the Loose Women discussing whether you should get involved in your children's relationships. Talk soon turned to how divorced parents deal with situations after a split, with Ruth saying: "I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents say well if they are divorced then I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming or if she is there and I just think it’s so selfish isn’t it because it is their day."
Mariella interjected and said: "That’s a whole other subject isn’t it? How to divorce well." Ruth then made a cheeky quip at her recent split from Eamonn as she responded: “Oh tell me about it." She burst out laughing, as did her co-stars and the live studio audience before Ruth added: "Anyway, funnily it’s now time for a break..."
Ruth and GB News host Eamonn, who share son Jack, married in June 2010 after 13 years of dating with the occasion attended by TV presenters Gloria Hunniford and Jeremy Kyle, EastEnders actress Zoe Lucker and former champion boxer Barry McGuigan.
A statement issued about the former This Morning duo's relationship on May 25 this year read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."
