Blake Lively’s husband revealed that he was simply glad that, ahem, all the essentials were in working order at the grand old age of 38.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Ryan said order: “In my late 30s, I’m just happy my boys can swim.”

In slightly less biological detail, the star also revealed that he was a “relief” not to be the centre of his own universe anymore now he has lil’ daughter James to look after.

“I’m in a great place. I have a family and a little girl, and I honestly couldn’t be happier right now. There’s just no place I’d rather be, it’s the ultimate trump card.”

And Ryan isn’t afraid to get stuck in with the dirty nappies. “It’s the most exciting time you can imagine,” he says. “You try to get used to the idea of waking up several times in the night to feed your baby or change diapers or rock your child back to sleep.”

Aw. Too much cute.

Ryan has been acting since he was 13 - he was in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch dontcha know - but, confusingly, admitted to having an “aversion” to child stars and doesn’t want James to follow her parents into show biz just yet: “I know for a fact adults can’t handle it so I don’t know how a kid is expected to handle any level of fame. Let alone the levels of scrutiny that come with it. It’s just too much for a kid.”

And you never know, if everything keeps going swimmingly for Ryan, James might even have a little brother or sister in the not too distance future.
