Ryan Reynolds treats Wrexham to a first-look at his latest Netflix film Red Notice

Since taking over its football club, Ryan Reynolds has been a household name in the Welsh market town of Wrexham.

And to celebrate the release of his latest film, Netflix's Red Notice, which also stars Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot and The Rock himself Dwayne Johnson, Reynolds gave the town an exclusive sneak-peak of the movie.

Speaking in a video on social media, Reynolds, dressed in a Wrexham AFC scarf and gloves, thanks local business Ifor Williams for putting the clip on its trailers and driving around town, before bragging that the public love his latest film.

Later in the clip, Wrexham AFC vice-captain Luke Young describes himself as "the Rock of Wrexham", while local baker Emz Cakes shows off a cake-bust of Reynolds' head.

The town's mayor even makes an appearance, saying that he is "raving about the film" while keeping a straight face - immediately admitting he hasn't yet seen the film.

Also featuring in the clip is Welsh footballing royalty Robbie Savage, who tells Reynolds in Welsh that his co-stars Gadot and Johnson are "like two farts in a jam pot".

Wrexham's mayor, Councillor Ronnie Prince later added: "If you'd told me 18 months ago that Wrexham would be singled out to get an exclusive first look at a Hollywood blockbuster with three of the biggest movie stars in the world, I'd never have believed you."

Red Notice, which hit the streaming service last week, follows FBI profiler John Hartley (played by Johnson) as he partners up with renowned thief Nolan Booth (Reynolds) to catch another another thief (Gadot) as she takes on a daring heist.

The team sit ninth in the conference league, with six wins from 14 games.
