Mayhem descended on a Manchester-departing flight to Ibiza after passengers began 'scrapping' mid-air. Ryanair's flight FR2626 to Ibiza made an unexpected landing at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in southern France following the altercation.

Other travellers captured footage of the disturbance, revealing the scene as police boarded the aircraft post-landing at around 9pm UK time on Sunday.

One part of the filmed chaos showed a man being marched off the plane by authorities while fellow passengers hurled expletives. Footage circulating also depicted passengers obstructing the aisle as crew members attempted to restore order.

A separate recording showed passengers hindering the crews attempts to manage the situation. Passenger Jamal Stewart, 30, from Leeds, told the MEN: "A guy was arrested who'd started on a woman and then we stopped in France. He got arrested and she just lost it and started scrapping with everyone."

Fellow traveller Max Ramsons described seeing a man 'kicking off' before all-out 'fighting' took place, necessitating the diversion to Toulouse.

After refuelling, the aircraft carried on to its original destination about an hour and a half later. FlightRadar24 details that before the forced descent in Toulouse, the flight had circled twice over France's southern region.

A Ryanair spokesperson told the MEN that a 'small group' of 'unruly passengers' became disruptive during the flight, leading to two individuals being 'offloaded' in France where local police took over.

"This flight from Manchester to Ibiza (8 Sep) diverted to Toulouse after a small group of passengers became disruptive inflight," the spokesperson said. "The crew called ahead for police assistance, who met the aircraft upon landing at Toulouse and offloaded two passengers before this flight continued to Ibiza.

"We sincerely apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of these unruly passengers' behaviour, which was beyond Ryanair's control. This is now a matter for local police."
