Ryder Cup 2023 - LIVE!

Team Europe have edged closer to victory in the Ryder Cup but are not yet out of sight after Saturday’s action. Luke Donald’s side enjoyed a dream opening day in Rome, preventing Team USA from winning a single match, and while the foursomes brought more success, the USA won the final session. The Europeans lead 10½-5½ heading into te final day.

Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg raced to a remarkable 9&7 win over Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler on Saturday morning, but the European pair then suffered a heavy defeat themselves at the hands of Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa. Tommy Fleetwood partnered up wit Nicolai Hojgaard for the fourballs and they were beaten by Max Homa and Brian Harman, who won twice on the day.

Justin Rose and Robert MacIntyre needed late drama as they halved their fourballs match on Friday and remained unbeaten with a win over Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, before Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick ran into a late putting clinic from Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark as the Americans snuck one final point late in the day.

He can! Just about carries the bunker, the ball trickles onto the putting surface and he’s just outside ten feet for another birdie. Getting annoying for Team USA.

Morikawa looking to match it, leaves that out to the left though. Long putt he’s left himself. Americans could do with Burns hitting one stiff.

It’s way long though, one bounce into the thick rough behind the green!

Well... nothing lucky about that from Homa! Stunning. He’s just thrown a dart from 246 yards to about six inches. Ridiculous shot.

The Englishman has a birdie putt from 30 feet, looks good for most of the way but then just falls off to the left.

Leaves Harman, who found the green in two, with an eagle putt and two for the hole. Lags the first one up and that’ll do nicely.

Exhibit A - Cantlay shows lovely hands, only a couple of feet remaining to tidy up for par.

Fitzpatrick can get putter in hand though, he was holing these yesterday... not today. Dead straight, didn’t break as he thought. In for par.

Cantlay to tie the hole, job done. Remains Europe 1UP.

Morikawa the only one on the ninth green in two, so this eagle putt is to win the hole. Fair way out though and he still has work for birdie.

Burns looks to help him out, leaves his putt right on the edge of the cup. He thought he’d made it. Hovland for birdie, Europe need to make a four. Not to be though, sets the putt out too high.

Leaves it for Morikawa to win the hole - five feet, sinks it! Four up at the turn.
