Rylan Clark-Neal has addressed his break from This Morning, explaining why he wanted to take some time off.

Last month, the TV presenter announced that he would be absent from the ITV daytime show for the foreseeable future.

He would go on to post on Twitter to debunk rumours that he had been 'axed', saying (in a now deleted tweet): "I've been working constantly for five years and I need time to myself."

Speaking on Lorraine this morning (January 15), Rylan clarified what he meant by his post.

"If I'm being completely honest, I just need some time to myself," he said. "And I put a tweet out saying I've worked constantly for five years, and I got a lot of insults.

"And I get that, but what I'm saying is, I've not had time off. I've not had Christmas or summer off, and just for my head I just need mornings back for a while.

"[The break is] just really, really nice. It's nice to focus on me personally than Rylan at work. To sit there and say to any job, whether it's This Morning or Big Brother or any other job that you need some time off, it's tough."

Rylan added that he will definitely be returning to This Morning "at some point".

"I will go back to This Morning at some point," he said. "If I'm being completely honest, I just needed some time to myself!"

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV. Rylan can currently be seen hosting Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side, which airs on Channel 5.
