Celebrity Big Brother 2016: Rylan Clark-Neal Defends Channel 5’s Decision To Show Tiffany Pollard's David Gest Mix-Up

Rylan Clark-Neal has defended Celebrity Big Brother’s decision to show Tiffany Pollard misunderstanding Angie Bowie and thinking David Gest had died, instead of David Bowie.

Angie had been informed of her ex-husband’s sad death off-screen, with only John Partridge and David Gest being the only other housemates to find out as they comforted her in the diary room afterwards.

However, when Tiffany later asked Angie what was wrong, after noticing that she was upset, the 66-year-old confided in her that ‘David is dead’.

In a hideously awkward TV moment, the US reality star completely misunderstood and thought Angie was referring to David Gest, who was resting in the bedroom after falling ill.

All hell broke loose, with viewers taking to social media to criticise Big Brother for airing the footage.

Rylan, who hosts Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, has defended the show’s decision to show the scenes though, saying on This Morning: “A lot of people were saying [on Twitter] that it was so distasteful for Big Brother to show this.

“With all due respect, what happened is terrible, it’s terrible news when anyone dies. That was, as you’ve now seen, the whole day in that house. There would have been nothing to show.”

He added: “If you were that outraged, all we can do is apologise, but at the same time, it is a reality show.”
