Sacramento Community Members Sweep Debris Following Protests

Community members in Sacramento, California, gathered on Sunday, May 31, to cleanup the aftermath of protests held following the death of George Floyd, local media reported.

The Sacramento Bee reported that people smashed the doors of a Macy’s and also stole from several other stores in Sacramento. Reports said Saturday’s demonstration drew about 200 people and ended shortly after 2 am.

The Bee said looters “appeared to have splintered off from the main protest,” which was described as “largely” nonviolent. Police fired pepper balls, tear gas, and rubber bullets at the crowd, reports said.
