Sacramento, California, firefighters saved two deer who were trapped in the Folsom South Canal on Tuesday, October 9.
The deer, a buck and a doe, were spotted swimming in the Folsom South Canal near Tributary Point, and were seen thrashing in the water.
According to a CBS News report, quoting fire department spokesman Chris Vestal, deer will often jump into the canal to quickly travel several miles but then find themselves unable to escape due to the steep sides.
This footage shows one of the rescuers using a lasso to catch the doe and pull her to safety.
