Sacramento Man Shouts for Help as Police Taser Him

Video of a man being tasered by police in Sacramento sparked a big reaction when it was posted to Facebook on October 26. Some commenters questioned the behavior of police in the incident, while others said the full context could not be known from the video.

The footage shows a man and a woman being restrained by police. A Taser is used on the man, who shouts out, “Somebody help.”

The Sacramento Bee quoted transit police as saying the incident ended in the arrest of Golden Lee Smith, 34, for assaulting an officer and for a parole violation. The woman in the video, named as Stacey Yvette Bledsoe, 48, was cited for resisting arrest, the Bee reported.

Police said the pair had been asked to stop for a ticket check, but refused. While they had valid tickets, police said, “they attempted to cite Smith for delaying officers.” An officer was then punched by Smith, police said. The video does not show the reported punch. Credit: Facebook/Michael Aran
