London mayor Sadiq Khan has launched a new filmmaking competition for aspiring directors in the capital.

Khan is teaming up with Into Film to encourage school-aged applicants to produce short films celebrating the elements of their borough they love best.

The competition, called My Local Culture, is part of the London Borough of Culture initiative, which is aimed at capturing the creative imaginations of people across the city.

Submissions must be no more than three minutes long and be based around the theme of ‘my local culture’.

Winners will receive £1,500 in film-making equipment, as well as professional training to help take their filmmaking aspirations further.

“This is a great chance for young Londoners to tell us what they love about their local area and why they think their borough should be London Borough of Culture,” said Sadiq Khan.

“I can’t wait to see the results of this fantastic initiative. Good luck to everyone taking part.”

The deadline for the competition is January 31, 2018. Enter here.
