Sadness as Grimsby street food business forced to close amid 'financial pressures'
A street food vendor in Grimsby renowned for its vegan dishes has announced its closure after three years in business due to "financial pressures".
Situated in the yellow container outside Docks Beers, in King Edward Street, Mockingbird Streetfood first opened in December 2021, and quickly made a name for itself thanks to its vegan-friendly street food dishes and "mock" chicken.
But in a post to its Facebook page today, the eatery has announced it has closed for the last time as a result of the current economic climate and being "unable to overcome" financial pressures.

A spokesperson for Mockingbird Streetfood said: "It is with a heavy heart that we must announce Mockingbird has closed.
"The current economic climate has placed a strain on businesses everywhere, and we’ve not been spared. Despite trying everything we could to make changes, we have been unable to overcome the financial pressures we faced.
"What has kept us going through the tough times has been the support of our customers and their love for our food. And our staff - we’re incredibly proud of our hard-working team. What we created wouldn’t have been possible without them. So thank you to all our ‘Mockers’, to all our customers and to our landlord, Docks Beers, for letting us be part of their ‘flock’.
"We wish whoever is the next tenant of the yellow container well."
