Sadness as popular Holderness Road shop announces closure

A popular East Hull shop has announced it will soon be closing its doors.

Home Decor Hull Limited is a locally run decoration shop which has been trading for over 30 years. However, today (Tuesday 14) the business said it would be closing the shop at the end of this month.

Posting to Facebook, the team said: "It’s with a heavy heart that after 9 fabulous years we are having to close the store.

"We have put absolutely everything into keeping the shop open but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough and while we’ve tried fighting the current economy and the effects on retail, we have to unfortunately admit defeat…

"We'd like to thank you, our amazing customers for your support giving us 9 wonderful years of business going through Covid, moving store and too many milestones to count. Without you none of which would have been possible!

"31st of January will be the last day our doors will open and before we go we will be having a farewell clearance sale across all of our items in store - everything from designer wallpapers, pillows, lamps and even furniture will be at rock bottom prices starting from today!

"Please note, if you have pending orders with us, these will be fulfilled - if you have any wish to have them refunded please call us to discuss. - we aren’t too sure what the future holds however one thing is for sure that’s we won’t forget this journey and those that helped us along the way! Please share this post to allow us to go out with a bang and make Hull’s homes full of some beautiful wallpaper."

Responding to the news, someone said: "That's awful, You are a great outlet and advocate on why people should support local businesses. A very professional, friendly outlet with a great, well priced range of stock. It's a sad day."

And another person said: "Really sad news! Your shop has been the go to for decor and advice."

A spokesperson for the shop said that they are having a "huge closing down sale, with wallpapers starting at £5 a roll." There will be designer wallpapers, furniture, cushions and other home decor items all up for sale.
