SAG Awards 2018 winners: Three Billboards leads the honours as Brits Claire Foy and Gary Oldman triumph

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri looks set for Oscars glory after picking up a haul of gongs at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Martin McDonagh directed film took home three of the nights biggest awards at the 24th annual ceremony, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Frances McDormand, the film’s leading lady, fought off competition to take home Outstanding Performance by an Actress, while her co star Sam Rockwell was honoured with Supporting Actor.

Gary Oldman added to his 2018 awards haul, picking up another Outstanding Actor gong for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

Speaking after his win the British star said he is soaking up his awards success as he will be ‘eclipsed’ come next year.

"You have your moment in the sun, there's no guarantee that you're going to keep working,” he said.

"God forbid, I could get sick, I could get hit by a car. We have today but there's no guarantee we're going to get tomorrow.

"So my feeling is: enjoy the moment in the sun, it will eclipse, it always does, and it will be someone else standing up here next year. I'm enjoying it."

It marked the second consecutive year that Foy - who was unable to attend Sunday nights event - has taken home Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series.

The male equivalent was handed to Sterling K Brown for This Is Us.

Nicole Kidman continued her reign, picking up another win for HBO’s Big Little Lies. She was joined in the winners room by her co-star Alexander Skarsgard who took home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for his role.

Kidman, 50, tackled ageism head on in her acceptance speech, praising Dame Helen Mirren and Susan Sarandon for being “trailblazers”.

She said: “To receive this at this stage in my life is extraordinary and at this time in the industry when these things are going on and for this role.

“How wonderful it is that our careers today can go beyond 40 years old, because 20 years ago we were pretty washed up by this stage in our lives. That's not the case now.”

Allison Janney won Outstanding Supporting Actress for I, Tonya, Wonder Woman was honoured with Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Veep.

Morgan Freeman was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.
