Although they weren’t the official presenters of the evening, Schitt’s Creek stars and real life father and son Eugene and Dan Levy were an instant hit online.

The pair kicked off the show and made fun of SAG’s annual “I am an actor” segment, in which actors speak to the camera about their journey into the industry before ending it with the line “I am an actor.”

After Christina Applegate and Cynthia Erivo gave their short but sweet take on the tradition, it was Eugene’s turn to the delight of viewers everywhere.

Watched over his shoulder by his son Dan, Eugene then gave essentially his entire life story and talked about toilet paper commercial star Mr. Whipple was his dream role - before dipping into different tangents and dragging out his “complex” segment.

At a couple of points, his son Dan interrupted him to speed it up and informed him that he’d “taken three times as long as everybody else and you’re still not finished.”

When Dan pointed out that Eugene had gone so long that Tom Hanks had lost his opportunity, Eugene called Hanks a “good guy” who would “take it well” - before the camera panned to a devastated Tom Hanks.

Their opening monologue which followed was just as fantastic, with Eugene jokingly putting himself on the same pedestal as SAG Lifetime Achievement Award winner Robert DeNiro, and prompted many on social media to clamour for them to host awards shows in the future.

However, he threw some magnificent shade at director Quentin Tarantino when he hinted that he may have a foot fetish.

He said, ”I want to thank my co-stars, Leo, Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie's feet, Margaret Qualley's feet, Dakota Fanning's feet. Seriously, Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA.”
