A Sainsbury's convenience store in a Nottinghamshire town has temporarily closed due to damage caused to the store by "extreme weather". The Sainsbury's Local store in Market Street, Bingham, announced it would be closed for the day on Sunday, September 22.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain said this was so repairs could be carried out on the ceiling. They said the shop was working to reopen "as soon as possible".

Nottinghamshire has been battered by rain this weekend, with many areas of the county experiencing thunder and lightning on Saturday evening. The Met Office has issued several weather warnings in recent days, with an amber warning for rain remaining in place for Monday.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our Bingham Local store is temporarily closed while we make repairs to the ceiling which was damaged during the recent extreme weather. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to reopen as soon as possible.”
