Sainsbury's in-store detectives on high alert in 'fraudulent coupons' crackdown
Supermarket giant Sainsbury's is targeting law-breaking customers in a 'fraudulent coupons' crackdown. The retail giant has put its in-store detectives on high alert and called in police following the cases.
It comes as notices have been erected in stores to apologise to shoppers who may now experience a 'longer checkout process' - due to the crackdown. The notices have been positioned near the self-service checkouts.
A notice in the Biddulph branch states: "We have seen an increase in fraudulent coupons in our stores and we have processes in place to detect and block them. This may temporarily lead to a slightly longer checkout process and we are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. We have in-store detectives monitoring for fraudulent attempts and are working with the police on this issue."
