Sainsbury's store in Mickleover reopens after three-week makeover
Residents in a Derby suburb can finally use their local Sainsbury's again after it was closed for three weeks. The Sainsbury's Local in Station Road, Mickleover, closed for a major refurbishment in early September and is welcoming customers back to the site once again from today (Friday, October 4).
Shoppers can expect a redecorated store, both inside and out, after the replacement of the shop's signage, fixtures and fittings during the revamp. Sainsbury's hopes the new look will make the shopping experience "brighter" and "fresher" for visitors.
The store's design has also been refreshed, with the layout being reset to make it "more convenient" for shoppers, a spokesperson has said. All of the fridges and cabinets have been replaced and the electronic systems have been upgraded to become more energy-efficient.

We hope the local community is as pleased with the new look store as we are and we’d like to thank everyone for their support and patience while we completed this project."
The statement added, in regard to the new fridges and electric systems: "While this element of the renovations might not be so obvious to customers, as you can imagine this is a significant job and will play an important part in achieving our sustainability ambitions, known as our Plan for Better."
The pavement and parking spaces outside the store have also been resurfaced to make access to the store easier for visitors. A new Costa Coffee machine and upgraded kiosk at the checkout area have also been fitted.
