Last night saw the revamp of Saint Laurent with new creative director Anthony Vaccarello at the helm.
“I know I can’t please everyone. But neither could Yves,” said Vaccarello. This collection, however, seemed to please more than Hedi Slimane’s heavily criticised designs.

Slimane’s ‘anorexia chic’ look was thankfully gone, having been replaced by Vaccarello’s trademark slits and low cuts showcased on much healthier looking models.
But forget the sartorial mishmash of ruffles and textures for a second. It’s the shoes that got everyone talking.

Glossy pumps with the YSL logo as the heel became the focal point of the collection with the gloriously tacky diamante tattoos coming a close second.

Other footwear included the same stiletto pumps with a metallic leaf detail along with more masculinised flats.
One thing’s for sure: Anthony Vaccarello has just invented the shoe of the season. Long may he reign.
