The New Saints issues update on where Conference League games will be played
The New Saints are to play home matches in their historic Conference League campaign at Shrewsbury's Croud Meadow. The Cymru Premier champions last month became the first Welsh domestic league club to qualify for a major European competition after getting past FK Panevezys.
A statement from them on Monday said that while UEFA rules stipulate clubs must play their home fixtures in a stadium within the association they represent, they had been granted dispensation from European football's governing body due to no suitable category four stadium being available to host all three of their league phase matches. With a ground sharing agreement signed, those games will now see TNS play at Shrewsbury's 9,875-capacity stadium when they take on Astana on October 24, Djurgarden on November 28 and Panathinaikos on December 12.
TNS chairman Mike Harris said: "We'd like to thank Shrewsbury Town for allowing us to host these historic matches at the Croud Meadow. We are hopeful the community will come out in full force to support The New Saints as we face some of the continent's biggest clubs.
"Being so close to our Park Hall home will mean that supporters from Oswestry, Mid Wales, and North Wales can travel to cheer on the team." TNS' other league phase matches are away against Fiorentina, Shamrock Rovers and Celje.
