Salford Red Devils have secured the signing of England Test forward Chris Hill. Rugby League Live understands the Super League side have secured a deal for the 36-year-old, who will link up with the Reds in 2025.

Hill is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield Giants but has expressed a desire to continue playing next year. He has been named in England's extended squad for the Test series against Samoa in the autumn.

One of the most experienced players in the game, the 36-year-old has made over 400 career appearances, including over 300 in Super League. Capped 41 times internationally, Hill had enjoyed a fantastic career, winning the Challenge Cup on two occasions with Warrington Wolves.

Salford are currently short of options in the pack heading into 2025, with Adam Sidlow and Gil Dudson both departing and Joe Bullock's loan spell coming to an end. Oli Partington, while more of a loose forward, is heading to Catalans Dragons.

While Salford do have King Vuniyayawa returning from a loan spell at Hull FC, they currently have too many quota players contracted to the club next season, with Esan Marsters arriving from Huddersfield Giants. As a result, one of their current overseas players will need to depart.

With overseas options short, Hill's appeal is obvious, with the transfer market short of options when it comes to props heading into the off-season.

Following his Huddersfield departure, Hill expressed his intention to play on in 2025. Posting on Instagram, Hill said: "End of another chapter thank you to everyone at the @giantsrl_official met some great people and made some great memories with some of the best people you could meet, wish them all the best in the future.

"Let’s see if another door opens."

That now appears to have been the case with Salford, who are looking to build on an impressive campaign that ended with them finishing fourth in Super League.
