Sam Asghari Reveals His Latest Body 'Transformation,' Says He Lost 100 Lbs. After High School (Exclusive)
The actor and model tells PEOPLE that “fitness goes hand in hand" with his career
Sam Asghari is embracing a period of transformation in his life.
The actor and model, 29, recently spoke to PEOPLE ahead of his 30th birthday on March 3, and he says that spending time in the gym as he enters a new decade helps him feel “balanced.”
“Sports and fitness has always been a big part of my life just because it always opened doors for me,” says Asghari, who grew up an athlete. “The reason why I even got into the entertainment industry was because of fitness, which goes hand in hand with my career, because I had a transformation many years ago. After high school I lost about a hundred pounds."
In December 2023, some four months after news of his split from Britney Spears broke, Asghari revealed that he had experienced yet another "transformation": he dropped nearly 40 lbs. thanks to his workout regimen.

Asghari, who starred opposite Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña in Paramount+’s series Lioness, added that growing up playing sports taught him values like "discipline, appreciation and behind-the-scenes hard work" that he still practices daily, especially in his acting career.
He also loves how he’s been able to share his fitness journey with the world thanks to social media, and he wants to continue using his own story to motivate others.
“I figure that if I can use my platform and inspire people to live a healthy lifestyle, that way — whatever their goals are, their lifestyle is — the healthier you are, the better you're able to take care of your family, the better you're [able] to be there for your kids. Just in general, it's a super important thing," he says.
And, while Asghari admits that he originally didn’t set out to lose weight, his transformation “happened when you just start to focus on something,” which for him, was a healthier lifestyle.

“If I decide to apply more discipline, or I [want] to stay at a certain shape, I can," he says. "If I don't need to be extremely in shape, then I can relax. You also have to [have] balance."
