Sam Smith Is Signing Off Social Media 'For a While' Following Dustin Lance Black Twitter Feud

Sam Smith is going radio silent.

The 23-year-old revealed on Tuesday that he's taking a break from social media, just one day after engaging in a public Twitter feud with Dustin Lance Black.

"I'm logging off for a while. Some Martinis shaken not stirred are definitely in order," Smith wrote.

Speaking with ET back in October 2015, Smith hinted at taking a hiatus from the public eye in order to focus on coming up with new material for his sophomore album.

"I've been going now for three years nonstop and it feels right for me to just go home and just live my life and be a 23-year-old," he said. "My love life, the downs and ups, it never stops, so I'm always inspired by stuff like that, but it'd be good to spend some time dating."

But awards season came calling, and Smith was right back in the game with appearances at the Golden Globes, the GRAMMYs and the Academy Awards.

After taking home the Oscar for Best Original Song on Sunday, Smith found himself targeted by Black, an openly gay, Oscar-winning screenwriter, for speculating that he may have been the first openly gay male to win an Oscar. Black, who is engaged to British Olympic diver Tom Daley, took home the coveted prize in 2009 for Milk.

"Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiance," Black tweeted on Sunday.

Smith replied in kind, with an ever-so-slight hint of shade: "Apologies for the mix up @DLanceBlack I'll be sure to check out your films now x Belated Congrats on the Oscar x."

Smith didn't say whether the tiff had anything to do with his social media sign-off, but on Monday the singer shared a photo of himself standing at the Oscars podium with text of his acceptance speech splashed across the image.

"All love," he captioned the shot.
