Sam Tomkins questions Hull KR's ability to overcome 'huge blow' in semi-final showdown
Sam Tomkins has doubts over Hull KR's ability to handle the loss of captain Elliot Minchella ahead of the Super League semi-final against Warrington Wolves. The loose forward is suspended after the Robins were twice unable to get him off a two-match ban, meaning they will have to overcome Sam Burgess' side without their influential leader.
Minchella's importance to Rovers can't be denied, with his performances recognised in the shape of an England call-up and Dream Team selection this season.
Rovers, who lost to Warrington earlier this season when Minchella did not play, have had time to come to terms with his unavailability, with the task simply to win without their captain, who would be free to play in the Grand Final if Rovers can secure a maiden Old Trafford appearance.

However, Tomkins believes his absence will be felt by Rovers when they take on the Wolves and that their time to prepare for his absence will not help them.
"I don't think it matters," Tomkins told Sky Sports. "I think he's that big of a loss that it doesn't matter if they found out on Wednesday or two weeks ago. I think that Minchella has been right at the heart of what Hull KR do. He's one of the players who epitomises what they do, he plays smart and the loss of him will be a huge, huge blow to Hull KR."
Meanwhile, his fellow pundit, Jon Wilkin, believes his absence gives Mikey Lewis an even bigger reason to step up again after a star-studded campaign.
"Is it Mikey Lewis' year? Because if he (Minchella) isn't there, Lewis and May are going to have to do something a little differently. Lewis has just been so good all year, every time he's had to come up with something he's excited us and delivered, it could just be the stage set for him and George Williams."
