Samsung Galaxy S10 will have 'incredible' camera feature, latest leak hints

One of the stand-out features of Samsung's forthcoming flagship smartphone, presumably called the Galaxy S10, is expected to be the camera, with the latest rumour suggesting an ultra-wide lens that will significantly improve image quality.

The new camera feature was spotted in a beta version of the Android Pie mobile operating system, which includes an option for "Ultra wide lens correction" within the camera settings.

Several rumours surrounding the Galaxy S10 camera have already hinted at a multi-lens setup, both on the front and rear of the device.

Last month, a report claimed that the successor to the Galaxy S9 will feature twice as many cameras as Apple's latest iPhone, with two on the front and four on the rear.

The Galaxy S10, set to launch on the 10th anniversary of Samsung's first Galaxy flagship smartphone, is also expected to shun the precedent set by Apple by using a "hole-punch" instead of notch in order to incorporate a front-facing camera.

The camera feature was first spotted by SamMobile while testing out the new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie beta.

"In Ultra wide lens, you save the picture by correcting the distortion of the background or by correcting the distortion of the person," the option within the camera settings states.

Using an ultra wide lens helps to capture a much more clear and less distorted image, with photography publication Digital Camera World describing such a feature on a smartphone as "incredible."

The publication stated: "Having the ability to toggle the distortion will mean that it will also have one-up on its rivals when it comes to its camera technology."

It would not be the first high-end smartphone to feature an ultra wide lens, with the vaunted camera of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also offering ultra-wide shooting.

Other rumours surrounding the Galaxy S10 include an anticipated unveiling in late February before its official release date on 8 March 2019.

It is also expected to come in three size variants: A 5.8-inch Galaxy S10 Lite, a 6.1-inch Galaxy S10 and a 6.4-inch Galaxy S10+.

Depending on the storage capacity, prices will range from £699 to £1,399.
