'Avengers' star Samuel L Jackson has ruled out reprising his role as Nick Fury in the latest Marvel movie 'Iron Man 3'.

It will be the first 'Iron Man' movie without Jackson, as he appeared in the first two films, albeit in an uncredited cameo in the first alongside Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

The star told Total Film: "I think my next time as Nick Fury is in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' because I'm not in Iron Man 3," adding: "None of the 'Avengers' are in 'Iron Man 3'. It's a standalone 'Iron Man' movie."

Jackson also appeared alongside Downey Jr in 'The Avengers', which also featured Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow. She also starred in 'Iron Man 2'.

Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) and Don Cheadle (James Rhodes) will all reprise their roles in' Iron Man 3' with Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce joining the cast.

It was hoped that a number of 'Avengers' stars might get cameos in the third 'Iron Man' movie after the success of 'The Avengers' proved superhero cross-overs are big business.

The film will hitin UK cinemas on April 26, 2013, with the Us gettin a look a week later on May 3.
