Sandbags Surround Flagstaff Homes During Flooding

Residents of Flagstaff, Arizona, pilled up sandbags around their homes as flash floods swept through the region on Friday, July 15.

Footage filmed by local resident Stacy Pinkston on Friday shows sandbags piled up around houses in neighborhoods across Flagstaff.

According to the Coconino County website, sandbags are recommended to intercept and slow the flow of runoff and protect buildings.

Flash floods impacted multiple parts of the region, including Highway 89, just north of Flagstaff in Coconino County, and the San Francisco Peaks area recently hit by wildfires.

The National Weather Service said flash flooding remained a threat through Saturday, July 16. Credit: Stacy Pinkston via Storyful
