Sandbanks chain ferry suspends services because of 'bad weather'
THE Sandbanks chain ferry suspended its services on Friday morning as wind battered parts of Dorset.
A combination of bad weather, high winds and tides led to the suspension of the service from Poole to Studland.
The ferry resume its services at 12.30pm from the South Haven side.
Bournemouth Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company’s spokesperson said at the time: “The ferry service is currently suspended due to the bad weather, high winds and tides.
A yellow weather warning wasissued for Dorset due to strong winds in parts of southern England during Thursday evening and Friday morning.
The Met Office said to expect “likely delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer and delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.”
