Sandman's Neil Gaiman teases DC heroes appearing in Netflix series

The Sandman is officially coming to Netflix, with filming believed to be already underway. As for how the adaptation will look and feel, series creator Neil Gaiman has dropped a promising hint.

The comic book series, which is not to be confused with the recently-released Audible audio drama, is published by DC Comics. Unsurprisingly, then, fans are starting to wonder if any of their favourite DC characters will make an appearance.

After confirming that the plan is for the new show to "tell the whole story, from Preludes and Nocturnes up to Sandman Overture" on Twitter, the writer went on to tease the involvement of a few familiar faces.

"How do DC character rights work for the series? Are you allowed Constantine for example, since he's currently on-air in another DC series?" one follower asked Neil, who replied, somewhat promisingly: "Wait and see."

Outlining the premise for Netflix's Sandman TV series, Gaiman previously told Digital Spy: "The Netflix version is going to begin in 2021, so Morpheus will have been kept prisoner in the Netflix version for 105 years rather than 70 years…

"We'll take that one, see what that does. It's already in the scripts, it does interesting things because… if we were creating this character now, what gender would the character be?

"If we were creating the character now, who would they be? What would they be doing? And going on from there."
