Santa Confronts Conservative Michael Gove as He Enters Parliament

A man in a Santa costume accosted Michael Gove, the Conservative Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, as he entered Parliament in London on Wednesday, December 12.

The man, dressed as Father Christmas and ringing a bell, berated Gove as he walked with reporters, questioning him over the Brexit issue and hurling seasonal insults. Gove was told he was a “naughty boy” and an “elitist toad,” according to reports":https://twitter.com/DanielHewittITV/status/1072852657528815619. Video from the scene shows the man offering the cabinet minister packages from a sack and carrying a sign that read “Brexit: A HoHo Hopeless Mess.”

Later in the day, members of Parliament are scheduled to take a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Theresa May, who has been criticized for her handling of the country’s impending extrication from the European Union. Gove announced Wednesday morning that he would support the prime minister and urged fellow Conservatives to do the same. Credit: Jennifer McCall via Storyful
