The countdown has started and Santa is preparing to fly to EK, East Kilbride for another sparkling Christmas.

The festive fun will kick off at 10am on December 1, when Santa, his helpful elves and a group of festive friends, parade from The Hub to the glittering grotto in Centre West, before the doors open wide to welcome all the good boys and girls at 11am.

The centre’s free forest grotto in Centre West promises a magical experience, with snowy Christmas trees, candy canes, polar bears, giant baubles, festive music, and even dancing snowmen set to entertain children of all ages.

Although there will be no charge to visit Santa, visitors are encouraged to make a donation to EK charity Kilbryde Hospice at the grotto or at other collection points in the centre.

And don’t worry if you don’t have time to visit after the parade. Santa will be back in EK every weekend in December (10am to 4pm on Saturdays, 11am to 4pm on Sundays) and in the run up to the big day on Monday 23rd (10am to 4pm) and Christmas Eve (10am to 3pm).

No booking is required, and every child will receive a Christmas gift when they leave.

And the fun doesn’t end there. If you fancy an early present then watch out for the centre's festive Facebook competition where you could win a stocking full of cracking Christmas goodies during December. Keep an eye on https://www.facebook.com/ekshoppingcentre for more details.

Commenting on the festive programme, centre manager, Alan Smillie, said: “It really is the most wonderful time of the year at EK, East Kilbride and we can’t wait to welcome Santa back to the centre. Our shoppers pulled out the stops to support Kilbryde Hospice last Christmas and I am sure the EK community will do the same again in this year’s fundraising drive.”
