Tony Award-nominated musical Waitress is coming to the West End next year.

Currently in its third year on Broadway, the musical makes its UK debut at the Adelphi Theatre in February next year.

Based on Adrienne Shelley’s 2007 film of the same name, with a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by six-time Grammy Award-nominee Sara Bareilles and direction from Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus, the show has an all-female creative team. It is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the top four creative roles.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a small town pie maker in a loveless marriage. When a baking contest and the arrival of a new doctor in the town offer her the chance at a new start, she has to rebuild her life.

On opening in April 2016, Waitress gained four Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical.

The London cast is yet to be announced.
