The Duchess of York was ‘forced to leave Balmoral’ after the Duke of Edinburgh arrived for his summer holiday earlier than planned, according to reports.

Sarah Ferguson, 59, arrived at the Queen’s Scottish estate on Thursday night to spend the week with her ex husband Prince Andrew, 59, and their daughters Princess Beatrice, 31, and Princess Eugenie, 29.

But she was reportedly spotted catching a British Airways flight to London from Aberdeen Airport over the weekend.

A royal insider told The Daily Mail: “In previous years the duchess has left the day before the Queen’s husband arrives.

“This year he arrived yesterday, several days earlier than expected, which is rather strange, so the duchess left.”

Prince Philip, 98, has always refused to be under the same roof as Fergie since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996. It has been said that he blames her for publicly humiliating the Queen and the Royal Family over the years.

Fergie was staying at Balmoral when the toe-sucking photos were published in The Daily Mirror in August 1992.

After years of being out of the inner circle, she was invited back to Balmoral in 2013. The Telegraph reported at the time that Philip “delayed his arrival at Balmoral until after she had left – he’s no fan of Fergie’s, either.”

The duchess and the duke both attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018, but kept their distance.

However, at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding in October 2018, Fergie sat directly in front of Philip.

Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew at Westminster Abbey in 1986. The pair have two children together, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, born in 1988 and 1990 respectively.

They announced their separation in 1992, but didn’t actually finalise their divorce until 1996. Despite a couple of scandals on Fergie’s part, they remain good friends to this day.

It’s believed they still live together at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
