Sarah Hadland reveals why she "burst into tears" over Strictly
Strictly Come Dancing star Sarah Hadland has revealed why she "burst into tears" before last weekend's launch show.
The former Miranda actor made her debut in the Strictly ballroom for the 2024 launch, where she learned she'd be paired up with professional dancer Vito Coppola.
Sarah has now revealed that she was overcome with emotion before making her dance floor debut, though not necessarily for anything to do with actual dancing.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Sarah admitted she wasn't initially convinced by the costume that the Strictly team had designed for her.

"It’s amazing. I mean, I burst into tears when I put my costume on for the first time, just because I wasn’t [prepared]," she said. "The first time I’d seen it, it was literally three handkerchiefs of purple Lycra, and it literally had six safety pins.
"And I was like, 'Wow, that’s really basic.' And I was thinking, 'How are they going to bougie this up?'"
Sarah expressed her amazement that the Strictly designers could quickly put any concerns to rest once she tried on the garment.
"Funnily enough, I was talking when they were fitting me into it, when it had all been done, and then I turned around, and it was a bit of a moment, because, yeah, I’ve never worn anything so beautiful. It really caught me off guard," she recalled.
"I wasn’t expecting it. I just burst into tears. I was like, 'This is so beautiful.' And as an actor, also, often you… I mean, you get to be collaborative in this. But as an actor, you’re very involved with your character. You sort of know exactly what it’s going to look like."

Sarah praised Strictly makeup artist Lisa Armstrong and hair stylist Lisa Davey's work for her launch show look, adding: "That’s what I’m here for: the glitter.
"I want to sort of be standing at the side of the stage, and I want them to just be getting wheelbarrows of glitter, and just chucking me in it, and then just spraying me. And then Vito can be spinning me. That is something."
Sarah and Vito will hope to make a good first impression on the judges on Saturday night when they perform a Quickstep to the Dolly Parton classic '9 to 5' in the first live show.
Strictly Come Dancing will return on Saturday, September 14 on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
