Sarah Jessica Parker's new Sex and the City ad will give you a hit of nostalgia

We never would have pegged Matt Damon as a Sex and the City fan, but he’s just given SATC diehards a major treat. While a Sex and The City movie sequel is somewhere in film purgatory, Damon managed to snag Sarah Jessica Parker for a quick mini reboot.

Dressed in a ballet skirt, striding down the streets of New York City, SJP recreated the opening sequence of Sex and the City.

In a clip for Stella Artois and Water.org, the actress re-enacted the famous scene in which she struts along the pavement before being splashed by a bus. There were some changes though, as she opted for a slightly different outfit, swapping the old tank top and tutu for a powder blue tulle skirt, gold top and purple beaded bag.

The video is in aid of Stella Artois and charity Water.org’s 'Pour it Forward' campaign.

With each Stella Artois bottle purchased, the beer brand promises to provide one month of clean water to somebody in the developing world who needs it. For each sale of Stella's limited edition chalices, they'll provide clean water for five years.

Stepping back into Carrie’s Manolos was a surreal experience for SJP. She told Huffington Post, “It’s been a while. It was really fun. Slightly peculiar in the best possible way. It was especially meaningful because the purpose was to amplify this initiative.”

She continued, “I think just being right and clever about how they wanted to present Carrie for this particular idea — I relied upon their good taste and the subversive nature of it. I think it’s smart... In the past, you have a script and you have all the words you need to remind you if you’ve been away for a while. But this felt like an alternate universe. I was surrounded by smart and good people. It was really easy and really fun.”

Apparently, this is just the start of the celebrity endorsements for Water.org, according to Huffington Post. (Come on, Ally McBeal.) This could be the last time we see Carrie onscreen as the third instalment in the film series is currently in limbo after Sarah Jessica Parker told Extra that the movie would not be going ahead. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha on the show, previously expressed that she had no interest in reprising her role and went as far as to tell Piers Morgan that she had “never been friends” with the SATC cast.

Sarah Jessica Parker previously revealed on the Origins podcast that negotiations had been underway for Cattrall to return to the series. She said, “We negotiated in good faith. I emailed [Kim Cattrall], I tried to reach out to her and say, like, ‘We want you [to be] part of this. You’re an integral part, of course you are. I hope when you read this script you’ll see the beauty, the joy, the heartbreak in it.’

“I can’t force her to see it, but we did negotiate through the process and ultimately the studio said, ‘We can’t meet those asks of hers.’ So then it’s over, but that’s not a character assassination, that’s just the way business works.”

The Origins podcast also revealed rumoured plot details for Sex and the City 3, with sources close to the project claiming Mr Big would die of a heart attack in the shower early on in the film. Following that, it would focus on “how Carrie recovers from Big’s death."
