Sarah Jessica Parker reveals terror of fans who grab her for selfies without asking

Sarah Jessica Parker has made an emotional plea to fans to stop “grabbing me” for selfies because it “freaks me out”.

The Sex And The City star claimed people don’t even try to talk to her before they try to take a photograph with her.

Parker told Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper: “The world is scary a little bit right now, there's a heightened awareness, there's tension, so that's the only thing that freaks me out is people grabbing me. I much prefer conversation to a selfie.

“What's happening now is that people actually grab you, people want a selfie, so there's no exchange of, 'Hello, how are you? Do you mind for a moment if we do a photograph?' It's 'Can we do a selfie?'"

She added: "There's no introduction and when they're doing it they're grabbing you."

The 54-year-old actress was pictured looking terrified as she was mobbed by fans at Sydney airport earlier this week.

SJP is not alone when it comes to not being a fan of selfies.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence told CNN: “Sometimes I’m nice, sometimes I’m in a bad mood. Like, if I’m at dinner and I’m eating and somebody wants me to stand up and take a picture, knowing that I don’t have to say yes and I can say no - that’s actually helped with my anxiety. It is hard because you don’t want to feel rude, but at the same time, I have to defend my life and my mental wellness.”

While other stars don’t feel guilty about refusing to pose for pictures.

Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams told Nylon magazine: “I still don’t feel like I owe anyone anything. I don’t have a problem saying no. I know some people get really weird about that, like, ‘You’re so mean.’ But if I was really in love with someone, I wouldn’t just want a picture. I would want to hang out with them.”

While Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt revealed: “If I go out and want to do normal things, I have to be comfortable disappointing people. So I just don’t take pictures with people. Because that’s not about enjoying the moment; it’s about stealing the moment to brag about later.”
