American Horror Story veteran Sarah Paulson is back for the latest season of Ryan Murphy's other major anthology series, American Crime Story: Impeachment, and has marked the start of filming with a first look photo of her character.

"Linda," she tweeted. "American Crime Story: Impeachment has begun principle photography @MrRPMurphy."

The third season of American Crime Story was previously reported to be beginning on October 13, after it was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Impeachment, as its name suggests, is about the impeachment trial that took part in the wake of the infamous Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky sex scandal. Linda Tripp, who Paulson is playing, was a major player in those events, having secretly recorded Lewinsky's phone calls in which she talks about the affair with the then-President of the United States.

Speaking about transforming for the role, Paulson recently said that she would be wearing "a lot of prosthetics and body transformational accoutrement" and did a lot of research, but sadly never got to meet the real Tripp before her death earlier this year.

"I don't know if I ever would have met Linda or if Linda would have even been open to doing anything like that," she said, "but I got as many text messages when she passed away as if I had died.

"It was weird because I have been spending so much time reading all these books and working with a dialect coach. I was immersed in this and it was a very wild thing. It really did make me sad."

American Crime Story previously aired on FX in the US and BBC Two in the UK.
